Biological Investigations

This body of work is a confrontation and reckoning as I have recently uncovered my biological lineage through 23&Me in May 2024. By mapping my associations with chaos, I navigate the spacial and temporal aspects of my practice, seeking to reconcile the disorder of personal and biological narratives I have exalted through practicing mutual recognition and belonging. Through stitching, patchwork, layering, hiding, and exposing, I begin to share my perspective of one that does not avoid the complexity of Southern history, but remembers and reimagines through inherited privilege and chosen responsibility.
